The calculation that matters
Margin is solved after the costs that actually leave your account.
Required order revenue is calculated from product cost, shipping cost, fixed fees, variable fees, and target margin. The workbook then backs into the item price after expected discounts, customer-paid shipping, and units per order.
Built-in guardrails
Dated fee assumptions. Etsy and Square examples include sources and an as-of date, and every rate remains editable.
Visible model checks. Invalid loss rates, zero batch sizes, impossible fee and margin combinations, and negative planning inputs are flagged.
Candle-specific costing. Fragrance load is applied to wax weight, labor is spread across the batch, and defects increase cost per sellable candle.
Honest scope. The workbook identifies taxes, insurance, refunds, chargebacks, and jurisdiction-specific compliance as costs you should add when applicable.
One corrected price can recover the cost of the kit.
Use the free calculator for one candle. Use the workbook when the same decisions need to hold across products, channels, batches, retailers, events, and supply orders.
